Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls

September 14, 2024

We rewarded our long, exhausting journey with a stop at Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is situated on the US and Canadian border, separating New York and the Canadian province of Ontario. It is the apex of the waters from four of the Great Lakes into the Niagara River, and is made up of three distinct waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil. We were able to hike to all three.

Niagara Falls State Park was established in 1885 as the first state park in the U.S.  3,160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second. This is hard to comprehend, until you are standing right near the falls and hearing the thunderous pounding of the water.

Stopping at the falls helped us forget the aches and pains
of the long drive, and reminded us of the wonder and excitement we look forward
to experiencing on our trip.
