Adirondack Mountains

Adirondack Mountains

September 20, 2024

Best thing about being in Canada–no election signs! But back to the U.S. we go. We crossed the border and drove south to the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. We stayed at Frontier Town Campground in North Hudson, New York. It is a beautiful place, with huge sites, but it was eerily quiet. I was surprised there weren’t more campers.

Frontier Town Campground

The park was unique as it was designed as an equestrian campground, and had facilities for horse owners. Because it is promoted as equestrian, I think “regular” campers may not consider it. Also, not many sites had electric or water hookups. We had our first trial of “boondocking,” or camping without any hookups and relying on solar power, and it worked out well.
