We enjoyed our stop at one of the most popular museums in the Berkshires, the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The artist lived in Stockbridge for the last 25 years of his life, and his studio was located there as well. The museum features nearly 1000 original works, including his cover illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post magazine for more than 50 years. He is best known for his everyday depictions of American life.

Norman Rockwell was art editor for Boys Life Magazine, the weekly magazine of the Boy Scouts of America. This 1939 painting is titled “A Scout is Helpful”
