Garden Oasis

Garden Oasis

October 10, 2024

Just outside Acadia National Park’s Northeast Harbor entrance is the peaceful and beautiful Asticou Azalea Garden. It is part of a Land and Garden Preserve established to conserve and support historical gardens on Mount Desert Island.

The Asticou Azalea Garden is a Japanese Garden first started in 1957. While we missed the flowering cherry trees and azaleas of spring, we did enjoy the blazing fall colors of the garden. There is even a beautiful Sand Garden.

    Hi Lynn and Scot
What a beautiful set of blogs you have put together, Boston and Portland very special and so much history. I will go over these several times. Had a fun get together with about a dozen class of 77 Pem Day guys and their wives Saturday in Steve Hughes garage where he is building a 13 ft classical sailboat dating back a long way. They were in KC for their 40th reunion. At the reunion, at school, Don Hall (who was being honored) waxed on a little about learning about hydrogen explosions in my class and he review his remarks for me at this get together. Very humbling to be praised by a guy who has done so much for the school and Kansas City. Another grad brought the class profesy I wrote for their AP Chem class but he did not get a chance to read it to the group. He read the one I did on him to me and another grad, and am basking in my
notoriety. I predicted he would be a dentist that suppliedhis individual tooth needs by

collecting those lost during NHL hockey games. He is now a peridontist, so, close.
Laurie and Dan helped me take Polly Esther out of the water, and of course Murphy was aboard. We were going to wash the alge off the bottom with my new power sprayer but after Murphy was done, I was out of the mood, so next Spring. I asked Laurie a while back if she would like to have Polly Esther, no answer so far, but as I think about it I am concerned that it would be more than she should take on. She would always need to get Patrick to sail with her, and I would worry about their safety. The flea war continues but I have finally found the same spray the exterminator uses that seems to be pretty effective. Your trip is wonderful. Will be so glad to have you home
    e. I don’t think you should come over until I win the flea war. Probably should have stayed on Cedar Lane, no sewer backup and no fleas.

    Love You

    Dad
