Lake Champlain Maritime Museum

Lake Champlain Maritime Museum

September 24, 2024

We couldn’t pass up the chance to see the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. It showcases the maritime history of the Champlain Valley, including its 300 historical shipwrecks. The museum even offers scuba divers a chance to witness underwater archeology at some of the shipwreck sites.

Lake Champlain’s history includes many territorial and political skirmishes among the native population, French, English and American soldiers. The museum features several historical vessels, including dugout canoes that probably date from at least four hundred years ago.

Great blogs, love the maritime museum. When you and your sister were teenagers we took our E scow to Grand Lake Colorado. They had several of the Chris Craft runabouts there made of mahogany just like the one in your first picture, beautiful boats. And the ice boat, boy those things will go 50 plus miles per hour if you can stand the cold.
